Junior Design Research Conference

On 13 November 2014, the Lucerne School of Art and Design has hosted the 6th Junior Design Research Conference. Students and teachers from all Swiss Art and Design Schools came together to exchange ideas and to find out which topics and methodologies prominent master's theses work with.

Masterstudio Design student Ali Rahman Khan presented his thesis «Resign Republic». With the world transforming at an exponential rate, aided by rapid technological progress, education and its institutions must adopt relevant technologies along with innovative methodologies in order to keep pace. The project encompasses an education-technology platform focused on producing digital solutions which are based on three core concepts: consensus, distributed networks, and automation.

In an experimental setting the subsequent workshop «Feeeel the Pulse» investigated how the equivalent treatment of individual expertise and collective consensus generates decision-making patterns. The attempt was to create a decentralized democratic anthem; a beat which will have a part of the pulse of all participants in it.
