Commons in Design – Open Source and Open Design in contemporary design processes

The new research project of Dr. Christine Schranz «Commons in Design – Open Source and Open Design in contemporary design processes» was granted by the Swiss National Fond.


Christine is the principal investigator and project leader of the quadrennial research proposal, which generates essential insights to ‹knowledge practice in an open design processes› (subproject 1) and ‹collaborative settings and media› (subproject 2). With the research project Christine created a PhD position, which will be filled by Merle Ibach, a former student of Masterstudio Design. Within these position, Merle will develop her dissertation project on the influence of the open source movement and the importance of Commons on the creative design process.
